Partick Thistle celebrate promotion to SPL - they start with a clash against Dun

Thistle secured promotion to the top flight, after nine years away, with a series of dominant displays last season, winning the Division One title by 11 points from Morton.

The match will see former boss Jackie McNamara return to the club he left in January of this year, with Alan Archibald taking over and leading them to the championship.

After their home opener, Archibald's team make the trip to Ross County seven days later and then host troubled Hearts, who could start the season with a 15-point deduction for going into administration.

The Jags' first clash with champions Celtic comes on October 26, at Firhill, with their first visit to Parkhead on New Year's Day after a pair of Christmas home games.

The busy spell starts with a Boxing Day encounter against Inverness and they are also at Firhill on December 29 when Europa League qualifiers Motherwell are the visitors.

Their final fixture before the league splits comes on April 5, when Hearts are again the visitors.

However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

Wenger hails important win

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
