Darren Ferguson: Angered by decision not to punish Andrew Crofts

The hosts were unable to find a winner to ease their relegation fears and Ferguson was left fuming after Albion's Andrew Crofts somehow escaped a red card for cynically chopping down Lee Tomlin in the second half.

Referee Robert Madley let play continue and Crofts almost made the most of this reprieve in the closing stages when his diving header hit the bar.

Ferguson said: "I have regular communication with the referees' chiefs. All I ask them to do is have a look at any big decisions that I feel have gone against us and let me know if they think the referee has got it wrong.

"I have had six phone calls apologising for bad decisions already and I'll be getting a seventh tomorrow if they have anything about them.

"I know referees are only humans and you expect the odd mistake, but seven is just not right.

"Crofts told one of our players that he had no choice other than to take Lee out in that situation.

"It could be a big moment in our season but we will be fine if continue to show the magnificent effort and commitment that we displayed tonight.

"The lads put in a terrific shift against a very good team, especially as the game came so quickly after a big performance at the weekend."

However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
