Hughton: Point was deserved

Norwich boss Chris Hughton thought his side were well worth their point in a 1-1 draw at Everton, even though they left it very late to get their equaliser.

Chris Hughton: Norwich showed great character

The Canaries fell behind early on to a Steven Naismith shot but Sebastien Bassong headed them level in the final minute and they are now unbeaten in seven games in all competitions.

Asked if he thought his side deserved their leveller, Hughton said: "I thought we did.

"From our standards of late, we conceded a very soft goal and, in that first half, we didn't keep the ball well enough. Everton were the better team over that first 45 minutes.

"But, when you are 1-0 down, you have to chase it and ask a little bit more of the players, and I think we got that. I thought we responded really well, we showed great character.

"I don't think there was masses in it. It was quite a tight affair and, over the 90 minutes, we had a long time to get back in the game."

Goalkeeper John Ruddy had to go off eight minutes from time with a thigh injury but Hughton is hopeful it will not prove too serious.

"We won't know until Sunday," said the boss. "Hopefully he came off at the right time. I certainly had to make sure I brought him off."

adly this is inevitable. No club outside the top 4/5 can hang on to anyone who shows that kind of talent anymore. Might be best for them to get as much as they can now while his stock is high and start again. On the plus side lads, Grant Holt is still available.
