Roberto Martinez: Hoping to bring in new faces at the DW Stadium

The Latics could have eight first-team players sidelined for Monday's Premier League trip to Newcastle and the Spaniard is fully aware he needs to bring in new faces to give the club a much-needed boost.

And Martinez has already got down to the nitty-gritty by discussing potential transfer targets with chairman Dave Whelan.

"The way we've been running our football club we always try to work in advance and we're trying to get probably two or three players to help the ones we have got at the club to give us a real boost in January," Martinez said.

"Remember it is a difficult window but we have been working now for a long time to identify players who can bring us something different.

"We will work as hard as we can and our focus is to be a stronger squad when the window closes so that's not going to change."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
