AVB won't let duo join QPR

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has no plans to let Michael Dawson and Scott Parker join former boss Harry Redknapp at Queens Park Rangers in January.

Dawson rejected a move to QPR in the summer, but the Premier League strugglers have been tipped to revive their interest next month, with the centre-half not a regular under Villas-Boas.

Parker, meanwhile, has yet to play for Spurs this season due to an Achilles injury and faces a fight to force his way back into the centre of midfield.

However, Villas-Boas does not want to lose either player in the New Year, despite admitting that he expects Redknapp to be interested in signing members of Spurs' squad.

"At the moment it's very unfair on me to try to say what QPR's decision-making is in the transfer window," said Villas-Boas.

"Obviously Harry knows these players very well and if he has to add to his squad he will certainly look to our players but we are not looking to sell those two, or loan them.

"Scott has been gaining fitness. I think Scott will be playing regularly here. For the player that he is, I think he has to.

"He has to compete, like Dembele and Sandro have to, but we recognise the importance of the player and we rate him very highly. He offers us more possibilities.

"He has experience and leadership qualities. Scott is key to the team. We lost first Mousa to injury, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Kaboul and Scott, and we've been very patient.

"Younes still has to recover from injury and get match fitness, so we need cover and Jan Vertonghen has been playing at left-back so we are not excessive in terms of numbers. But we are not looking for Dawson to go."
