Spurs are not the first Premier League club to be credited with holding an interest in Eriksen, with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool also said to be keen.

They are the latest to join the race for the 20-year-old's signature, though, and have seen Eriksen's former colleague in Amsterdam, Jan Vertonghen, suggest that the Denmark international would be a big hit at White Hart Lane.

Eriksen has, however, shrugged off the seemingly endless rounds of speculation to remain fully committed to Ajax.

He will not be relaxing that stance any time soon, with it his intention to remain in Holland until at least next summer.

On the Tottenham reports, Eriksen said: "I have read that, but it is just a rumour.

"It also depends on what Ajax want, but I hope and believe that I will finish the season at Ajax.

"One day I will take that step, but I don't know when. Of course, it also depends on which clubs are interested at that time."
