Naismith, who joined Everton last summer after deciding to leave Rangers, has struggled to hold down a regular spot in David Moyes' starting line-up with competition for places fierce.

The Scotland international is happy with how his Premier League career has started and he admits his time on Merseyside is very much a work in progress.

"I feel like so far I have contributed but I think the best of where I can be is still to come and hopefully in a couple of months I can show that," Naismith told the Daily Post.

"It has taken time to get over the injury and gel with my team-mates, being involved with top quality players that you've got to get used to and that's still a work in progress."

Naismith also believes he will become a better player working under Moyes feeling he has helped a host of players who have worked under him.

"The players he has signed may not all come straight into the team but over a period of time he turns them all into better players," he added.

"He has shown it - not just with Jela but others who have become established figures in the Premier League. Fellaini is now one of the top players, you've got Jagielka, like Bainsey, Osman, Tony Hibbert. They've all improved over the years under the manager's guidance and I want to do the same."

terling needs to be told though that upon entering the Arsenal squad he will re-enact the final scene from Highlander where he will be thrown around a warehouse by cartoon dragons and then be a mere mortal that will only ever spend three to four weeks a season playing football and the rest on the physio's bed. There can be only one.....player available at The Emirates.

he game changed in our favour when Carrick came on. We were able to play further up the pitch due to having a player who can give and go with the ball and keep possession. Yet barkley made some runs and Townsend scored a good goal but carrick's inclusion and chiellini's withdrawal made the biggest difference to the flow of the game

o, you've not silenced anyone Andros, i'm afraid. We know you can score a great goal, and it's really handy to have your direct running and willingness to shoot on the bench. But until you can do the other things expected of a winger (beat the man, put a decent cross in, stay wide etc) then you can't expect more than a regular cameo. Wonderful goal though, what a hit! No wonder Buffon wanted the shirt.
