Robert Green: Happy to fight for place at QPR

The 32-year-old England international has played the last four matches for Rangers after replacing the injured Julio Cesar and he has revealed he is hoping to play at the top level for the next 10 years.

Green joined QPR on a free transfer from West Ham in the summer but former manager Mark Hughes then signed Brazilian Cesar from Inter Milan.

"Julio came in as competition and that's the nature of life, competition comes around and you have got to deal with it," said Green to Sky Sports News.

"Every club I have ever been at, all I have asked for is a chance and it's the same. Cesar came to QPR and the new manager has taken over and all I ask for is a chance.

"Julio got injured in one game and I have come in and thankfully done well enough to keep my place in the team so far. But I know the competition is there and for a team down the bottom of the league it's good to have."

Green has made 12 appearances for England so far and remains keen to add to that tally under Roy Hodgson.

He added: "I still want to be involved. I am there. I enjoyed the Euros although I didn't play. I enjoyed pulling the shirt back on in the friendly against Norway and it's a wonderful feeling and a massive honour.

"I have been involved for the best part of 10 years and I'm still 32. You look at the guys involved in the Premier League in Mark Schwarzer and Brad Friedel, and people like that, that keep going on into their 40s. You look at them and they are as good as ever.

"It's something that I could give another best part of 10 years to so it's something I still want to be involved in and it's another thing to have competition with England."
