Phil Neville: Set to make his 500th Premier League appearance against Wigan

Blues skipper Neville will become just the seventh player to reach the landmark of 500 Premier League appearances, following in the footsteps of Ryan Giggs, Gary Speed, Sol Campbell, David James, Frank Lampard and Emile Heskey when he faces Wigan on Boxing Day.

Neville, who returned three weeks early from a knee injury to play in last weekend's win over West Ham, is out of contract in the summer.

Moyes has spoken to Neville about his options and admits he will let the former Manchester United man decide his own future.

"I've already spoken to Phil and he just wants to see how his body is," Moyes told The Sun.

"He's just back from a knee operation and he'd be the first one to say we should just see how his knee is.

"I don't think he sees any great panic in it at this moment in time."

Moyes is a huge admirer of Neville and hailed the midfielder's achievement in reaching the milestone of 500 Premier League games.

"It says a lot about what he's done but it doesn't surprise me because his mentality and his attitude to the game has been great since he came from Manchester United," added Moyes. "He's been a great signing for us."
