Several of Villa's relegation rivals have taken the advantage of a free weekend to do some warm-weather training in Dubai.
However, Guzan has no complaints at not going away to warmer climates, insisting they are using the free weekend to focus on how they can beat Arsenal next time out.
"I remember a few years back we went to Dubai and I don't think our results were great after that, if I'm being honest," Guzan told the Daily Star.
"I know it helps you get a bit of a suntan, but other than that we know there will be plenty of time in the summer to relax.
"In this league you very seldom get a week off, with the amount of games.
"So for us it's a chance to get back on the training pitch, continue to improve and make sure we're ready to face Arsenal.
"There's nothing specific but we need to continue to get better in all areas on the pitch, whether it's finishing or defending.
"We want to be helping each other push on because the last few months have been tough times - but we can all come out from it a lot stronger."
Villa moved out of the bottom three with last weekend's victory over West Ham and Guzan admits the win has given the squad a real boost.
"It was a massive result for us to get three points on Sunday, and now there's a bit of an extra skip in the step around the training ground with the lads," added Guzan.
"We know the hard work is not finished, there is still a lot of football to be played and we have to continue to progress, but with the players that we have I don't see why we can't do that.
"Any time you get a result, whether it's Sunday or the beginning of the season, it makes for an easier Monday morning.
"You can't get ahead of yourselves, it's one result and a good performance, but it's something that we have to build on.
"We can't be happy to settle for that. Now it's time to climb the ladder again."
