Fair's fair - Mancini didn't spend it all, but you have to admit he does have the most expensively assembled squad in history at his disposal, and he did buy most of it himself. In his first full season he spent over £150m including £100m on Milner, Ballotelli, Silva and Yaya Toure. Add a combined £60m on Agüero and Nasri the year after and even just the core signings are unprecedented in cost and profile. I don't think many non-City fans would like to see Mancini go because hire-and-fire isn't anyone's idea of the right thing for football as a whole. But I don't buy the frequently stated 'all managers spend' or 'there are four free-spending clubs in the EPL' from City fans - there is no precedent whatsoever for City's spending, for Mancini's spending, and for the ability of City to continue spending that way (or double it if they fancy). This is why Mancini's comments like missing out last summer, RVP being the difference or whatever he says next week are just silly - you don't spend £10m+ on players twelve times in three seasons, add to the mix the already present Tevez, Hart, Lescott, Kompany, Barry (I could go on), then complain about missing out on targets/needing to rebuild (after 3 seasons? really?) etc. That's what is hard to swallow about the whole thing - it's mostly his squad (plus the good bits from Hughes' squad), it cost the earth, won the FA Cup and then the EPL (only 9 months ago), and he's already playing the 'short on quality' card. Give him time - we're all agreed on that - but he should be top of the league and still in Europe with that squad, and no amount of pointing out how good other teams' players are, or bemoaning the fact that you only spent £50m this season, will change that.

Good one on Mancini I say. F**k the English media for asking him the same nagging question. It's not like City are out of all competitions. Plus why should he have to answer those questions? Let the higher authority answer it if they have to. Everything has to be so reactionary with the press these days, let them go to hell.

Well done Mancini, something had to give i'm just surprised he did not do it earlier. It's just so predicatble the same questions week after week, how many times does he have to entertain these plonkers.I just don't understand why clubs just don't pick and choose who they allow attend media briefs.Mancini is not alone here most managers are on the recieving end of this everyweek from the same section of the gutter press.

dactyl- Most of the United fans I know want you to keep Mancini, that should tell you all you need to know. It's also a bit rich(if you'll pardon the pun) of City fans to mention how much we have spent over the years, we always used to get stick off you bitter blues for spending but now you've got the money it's okay? There's a word for that...

Bring back Hughes, he was obviously wrongly sacked for achieving far less.

@swampdog83 Mancini will always be damned if he does and damned if he doesn't in the eyes of people like you so there's not much point debating it. How on earth would you know that there's no team spirit at City? I'd say it's quite the opposite, actually, and if you read the quotes from Mr. Balotelli that have come out today it seems the manager has the full backing of his players so it seems your supposition is little more than mindless conjecture. When Bob is king you will be first against the wall, with your opinion which is of no consequence at all.
