But he believes the return of midfield duo Claudio Yacob and Youssouf Mulumbu is crucial to their hopes.
Back-to-back wins over Liverpool and Sunderland have reignited Albion's hopes and they are just two points behind sixth-placed Everton ahead of Saturday's visit to Chelsea.
But Long admits the reuniting of Yacob and Mulumbu after injury and African Nations Cup duty respectively is a key factor.
When asked about Albion's chances of reaching the Europa League, Long said: "We may as well aim for it. I think we've got a good enough squad to do it.
"We've a few tough games between now and the end of the season but we managed to win at Liverpool and put in a good performance at Manchester United.
"We go to Chelsea after nearly winning there last year so hopefully we can get a good result and kick on from there but it is not going to be easy.
"You look at their line-up. We are not getting ahead of ourselves.
"We know it will be a tough task but we are confident in the way we are playing and we can put up against any team."
