He's always been pants, terrible for the German national side and terrible for the clubs he's played for. Why have Arsenal been off the boil? Defence is the first place I could name. What's wrong with their defence? This guy.

Not sure what the negativity is about here. When played alongside someone with pace, he's not bad at all. He's an intelligent player, and works well with Koscielny who is a little more impulsive and physical. And BFG stands for "Big f***ing German".

Does anyone else who comments on here actually watch football, or do you all form your opinions from hearsay and sensationalist tabloid journalism? Yes, he is slow, and he has made a handful of mistakes this season. Funnily enough, the majority of those have come whilst playing with Vermaelen, who has been terrible pretty much all season. Mertesacker and Koscielny are a good defensive partnership, and the one I hope Wenger sticks with for the rest of the season.

Wozza you're right but no other club with half a brain will pay 100% of his wage whilst on loan. He's gonna be another Denilson and be loaned for years whilst we still pay out approx £40k of his £80k weekly wage.
