The Serbia international only featured twice for the Blues after joining for around £1.5 million from Kosice in 2009.

After also spending time on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, the 24-year-old switched to Benfica in January 2011 as a makeweight in the deal which saw David Luiz move the other way.

Since then, Matic has impressed for the Portuguese outfit, prompting speculation both Chelsea and Manchester United could move for the midfielder this summer.

But Matic has ruled out such a move - for now.

He told The Guardian: "Frankly, I want to stay another year in Lisbon.

"Of course, someone like Jose Mourinho wanting me to go back to London would be an opportunity to prove that I can play in the Premier League, but I want to achieve more at Benfica, particularly in the big games."
