Bale's protracted move to Real Madrid has dominated the headlines all summer despite little progress on any deal.

Madrid believed they had agreed terms with the Premier League club on the transfer, and have accused Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy of dragging his heels.

Bale has refused to train with Spurs as he too has become increasingly frustrated with the lack of activity as the transfer deadline approaches in the coming days.

And Villas-Boas also appears weary having had to field questions about the Wales international since returning in pre-season.

When asked about Bale, the Spurs boss said: "I have no idea. The chairman is in control of the situation, so I can't tell you anything. I have no idea."
