Southampton have lost just once in their opening eight games and sit sixth in the Premier League table on 15 points.

Pochettino's side scored a deserved late equaliser away to champions Manchester United last weekend and also won 1-0 at Liverpool last month.

The squad have been doing double training sessions and Pochettino believes his players are now reaping the rewards of their hard work.

"That's one of the signs that certifies that we're on the right path," said Pochettino in the Daily Echo, when asked if his team had been physically and mentally stronger than United during the closing stages of the game at Old Trafford.

"From the start of the season, the team has been putting in an amazing effort.

"They've been having double training sessions every day and it's now, at this time of the season, that we're reaping the benefits of the effort that we put in."
