The Magpies took Remy on a season-long loan agreement from Queens Park Rangers over the summer, offering him an immediate step up back into the Premier League.

The Frenchman showed during the second half of a forgettable season for QPR in 2012/13 that he is capable of getting goals in England, and he is a man very much in form at present.

A match-winning strike at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday took his tally for the season to seven, placing him just one off the pace in the race for the top flight Golden Boot.

While delighted to see his only addition during the last transfer window producing the goods on the field, Pardew acknowledges that he may now face a fight to secure Remy's services on a permanent basis.

He said in the Evening Chronicle: "He's got a silkiness to the way he moves.

"He's got a nice run and he is a classy type of performer, which is great if you back it up with goals like it is.

"It kind of elevates him a little bit and he stands out."

Remy's fine form has helped to keep Papiss Cisse on the sidelines, while the vast experience of Shola Ameobi has also been favoured by Pardew in recent weeks.

He said: "I thought Shola was terrific in the 60 minutes he played (at Tottenham).

"His was a very different role and he was as important as Loic."

heyremind me of Utd's treble winning side. Swashbuckling and risk prone. We ha Jaap Stam to paper over the cracks at the back though. Not sure they have their Jaap yet.

he solution is to not feel sorry for any of Jabba, Gold or Sullivan. They're all deeply unpleasant and all deserve each other. If only West Ham would sign Barton and Suarez then no one would ever need to despise any other club.
