Juan Mata missed Chelsea training on Wednesday as his move to Manchester United appeared to move a step closer.

Not sure why Moyes would sign Mata,as I'm not sure as to what role he would play. If they are gonna pay a huge amount of money like this for a man that can't get a show at Chelski they had better get a better result than they did with Fellaini. Maybe they can play together but either way, I don't think it's gonna matta to Arsenal, Chelski or City. Boy oh boy has Fergie done the dirty on Utd. You should tear his statue down.

That last quote is just dumb, unless Mata is gonna be leaving at the end of the season or will never face them next season!

So would the fans who criticise Man City for buying the title be ok with Utd effectively buying a top 4 spot and Champions League football? Ya know since Manchester Utd don't make big signings and buy success...

If this does happen then the main reason is FFP. Chelsea are trying to stick to the rules and as a result Jose needs to sell be fore he buys. Sad as I'll be to see him go, it actually makes a lot of sense. We're completely overstaffed in terms of attacking midfielders but still have some notable gaps, at left back and up front in particular. Hazard and Oscar have been consistently performing in the attacking midfield berths and we still have Willian and Schurle to provide support. As fantastic a player as Mata is, it makes a great deal of sense to let him go and pocket the cash. I'm wondering whether if Mata is sold and Courtois follows suit we'll use the 70 odd million to secure the services of a 30 goal a season striker.... then again I think that was the idea with Torres, Schevchenko etc etc.

he didn't actually miss training though. The session was split in to two groups - one group consisted of the players who played against Man Utd. The other consisted of those who didn't. The younger players were divided between the groups and Torres was missing due to injury. The photo's selected by media reports from training were of the group of players that played on Sunday. But don't let the facts get in the way, will you!

Great, waste £35m on a player who doesn't address the weakness in the squad, who Moyes won't know what to do with, marvellous. Is this not just a sh*t version of what Real Madrid did in the early 2000s, bought a stack of luxury players that didn't address the weaknesses of the team? It didn't work for them either. The only United fans who will be excited about this are 12 year olds, mentally at least.

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
