The Blues boss spent two years working with the Argentine stalwart during a productive spell in charge at the San Siro.

Zanetti's professionalism, which sees him still turning out for Inter at the age of 40, left a lasting impression on Mourinho.

It has been speculated that the Portuguese coach has now made efforts to bring about a reunion in west London.

Chelsea were said to have offered Zanetti a one-year deal with the option for him to join the club's coaching staff in 2015.

Mourinho has, however, sought to bring an end to the rumours by admitting that there is no chance of Zanetti calling time on his 19-year association with Inter.

He told Sky Sport Italia: "It is not true that I have made an offer to Zanetti.

"It is impossible to think of him at any other club than the Nerazzurri. It makes no sense to take him out of Inter because he will remain there forever."

It is possible that Mourinho could work with Zanetti again in the future, though, with the former Porto and Real Madrid coach refusing to rule out a second stint at Inter's helm.

Mourinho told Mediaset: "I want to stay in the Premier League for many years, but there may come a time when Roman Abramovich decides my time is over and then I can think about returning to Italy.

"A return to Italy would mean only Inter for me."

FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
