Fifth-placed Tottenham's chances of a top-four finish are beginning to look slim, with the north London side four points adrift of Manchester City and having played two games more.

And the 22-year-old, who misses his country's friendly against England with a back injury, says he hopes to repay Tim Sherwood's faith in him by helping fire the side into Europe's premier competition next season.

"I think everybody at the club wants to be in the top four," Eriksen told Sky Sports News. "When I came here I really wanted to play in the Champions League and that is what we all want.

"(Working with Tim Sherwood) is different from Villas-Boas of course. It's been really fine. I've been playing so of course that is always nice.

"I'm just trying to repay him for the advice and the positive things that he has given me and, with the chance to play, I want to pay him back on the pitch."

Tottenham have a testing run of fixtures in the coming weeks and will face Chelsea, Benfica and Arsenal in their next three games.

The attacking midfielder admitted he is relishing the run of big matches.

"For me it's the first season so every game is like that," he said. "But we know how big these opponents are especially. They are big clubs so of course there are going to be some really nice games."
