Liverpool fell behind on two occasions early on as Jordon Mutch's opener was cancelled out by Luis Suarez but then Fraizer Campbell restored Cardiff's lead.

Martin Skrtel netted Liverpool's second equaliser and scored again in the second half as Liverpool started to hit top form, with Suarez grabbing a hat-trick and Daniel Sturridge also finding the target.

Rodgers insisted after the match that he was not too concerned by the three goals his side conceded and instead preferred to focus on another strong performance going forward.

"We showed a number of qualities," he told Sky Sports. "I thought the quality of our goals was very good, we showed our composure and our focus, especially when we went behind.

"We went behind twice in the game and we didn't panic, and in the second half we showed great composure on the ball to create chances.

"We scored six goals again and we showed that offensive power in our attacking game."

Asked if Liverpool's defensive display could have proved costly, Rodgers added: "That is the way it goes sometimes. The best teams will concede goals.

"We were probably too deep in the first half and the pitch was stretched too much, which gave them too much space.

"But I think anybody watching Liverpool today would see the real attacking threat we have. We were wonderful with the ball at times."

The result kept Liverpool firmly in title contention, four points behind leaders Chelsea but with a game in hand to play against Sunderland on Wednesday.

He said: "I am really, really proud of the team, and that is four games away from home that we've won on the spin and I can only be delighted with the performance and now we look to the next game."

was there, it was embarrassing - the team looked totally unbalanced from the off, the defence was woeful and when Mikel came off injured it got even worse with nobody in front of them. Up front on several occasions we had opportunities and nobody would shoot - it was a complete farse! On the back of Salah's performance I'm glad there is talk of getting shot...

reat to see Tommy Rosicky getting some love. A wonderful player. Such a pity we lost so long to injury. I was so excited when we signed him, this resurgence only makes the absences seem more of a lost opportunity.
