The league leaders have dropped just five points on home turf all season, winning 14 of 16 matches, the latest a 4-0 win over Tottenham in front of a vocal crowd on Sunday.

That victory put Liverpool top of the Premier League table with six matches remaining and, with Manchester City and Chelsea both set to visit this month, Rodgers hopes the Anfield factor will give them the necessary advantage in the closing stages of the campaign.

"It's a swing in mentality," he said. "When you have a home ground like Anfield, and you've got the army of supporters that we have, you've got to really own the field.

"This is our pitch, our supporters, our ground, so our mentality is to own it.

"We've got an aggressive mentality at home, to win, to score goals and equally to defend.

"You put those things together, along with the supporters - who were immense (on Sunday), arguably the best atmosphere I've felt at Anfield - and it's a really strong force that you have.

"It's great oxygen for us, as a team and management.

"It's great that the supporters have got that belief. That's so important for them, it's vital that they feel they can dream.

"For us, our focus and composure and mentality is just to work hard, because there's a process to dreaming.

"You've got to get the work done, or else it doesn't happen.

"We just narrow our focus onto each game. It's brilliant for the supporters to come to Anfield now to see their team win and see their team play dominating football."

Rodgers insists his team are currently ahead of where he expected them to be and that his work is far from finished.

"We've still got improvements to make," he told LFCTV.

"We're looking to put something in place not just for now and this season but for the future. The process started 18 months ago and it's continual."

till reckon Chelsea will go for Khedira as back up for Matic. I think it will turn out to be quite a Mourihno-y window: We'll see the squad players and youth in action pre-season, say things like well, we need not buy anybody and then the club will bid £60m for Pogba and send everybody on loan.

I

would love to be a fly on the wall at the meeting between Milner and Rodgers. I don't know if flies can count, but if they can then I would be counting the number of times Rodgers used the word outstanding in his attempts to get Milner to sign.

Reds and Arsenal chase Milner

W

ell, it wouldn't be a summer without Arsenal fans fretting over losing a key player, and United throwing their weight around and muscling in on transfer deals which are (apparently) near to completion. If we can't be entertained by the football on the pitch, let's enjoy the silly off-pitch soap opera of the transfer season. Hurrah!

Probably. But presumably he would not swap one bench for another. We have mails on over-hyped players, Arsenal enthusiasm, UEFA, FIFA and naked dudes...
