Dalman was reported to be considering his position with the Bluebirds, with claims suggesting he was set to resign to focus on other business commitments.

But Dalman, who took over as chairman last year after first joining the club's board in January 2012, has described the rumours as "total nonsense".

In a statement published on the club's official website on Friday, Dalman said: "What nonsense. The article reporting on my future at Cardiff is total nonsense.

"I have no plan to go anywhere and will continue to play a role in the future of Cardiff City Football Club."

The reports surfaced after a torrid first season in the Premier League, in which Cardiff won only seven games and finished bottom of the table.

Many Bluebirds fans hit out at the club's board when Malky Mackay was sacked as manager midway through the season and replaced with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
