Michu joined Swansea from Rayo Vallecano in a £2.2million deal in the summer of 2012 and was an instant hit, finishing the season as the club’s top scorer with 22 goals.

But the Spaniard struggled with knee and ankle injuries last season and played just 15 times in the Premier League.

Napoli boss Rafa Benitez however looks set to sign him for a year to boost his strike options, and Michu could find himself playing in the Champions League.

Napoli finished third in Serie A last season to qualify for Europe's premier club competition.
