The Dutchman was part of Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands squad for the World Cup in Brazil and scored a vital goal after coming on as a substitute against Chile to help the Dutch top Group B.

Following the Canaries’ relegation last season, Redknapp is hoping the lure of Premier League football can tempt the 24-year-old to come to Loftus Road.

Redknapp revealed Fer is one of a number of midfielders the club are considering but admitted negotiations with Norwich have stalled.

"He's a player we like but I don't know where that one is at the moment," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.

"It's been ongoing for a while but there are other people as well that we are looking at.

"I think we need a couple of midfield players and we have got other targets we are looking at.

"We need to strengthen in a few positions really to be strong enough to really have a go at it this year."

Redknapp is also hoping to bring in at least one forward with Charlie Austin, Bobby Zamora and Loic Remy currently the only three recognised strikers at the club.

s that Subbuteo's Shaun Wright-Phillips? Crikey, I thought he'd retired. Although I guess 'Only' QPR is like a retirement home.

xcellent! Not sure if he is any good as a manager (never thought about it) but the 'headbutt in the technical area' and what he said to Pelligrini were just brilliant, it was as if he was trying to recreate the end of the Alan Partridge Xmas special when Alan punched a man in a wheelchair and verbally abused Tony Heirs.
