The French forward will be a key part of Redknapp's plans after a move to Liverpool earlier in the summer fell through at the last minute.

Remy sat out Rangers' final pre-season friendly with Greek side PAOK but Redknapp is pleased with his progress and praised the player's attitude since he returned to the club.

"He's here, he wants to work and get in the team," Redknapp told the club's website.

"He's worked really hard on the training ground, I couldn't have asked for any more from him. He's trained great and his attitude's been first class.

"Hopefully with a week's training he'll be fit to play next week."

New signing Jordon Mutch played 90 minutes in the game against PAOK and Redknapp was pleased with the former Cardiff City man’s performance.

"It was his first game, he's still settling in but he'll do well," Redknapp added. "He's got good ability and he's got a good future."

QPR will entertain Hull City in their first game back in the Premier League and Redknapp admitted he is a big admirer of the work Steve Bruce has done at the KC Stadium.

"Every game's going to be a test in the Premier League," he added. "Steve Bruce has bought really well and they've got a good squad now.

"We'll get ready for next week now. It's going to be a busy week, we've got a lot to work on."

S

till reckon Chelsea will go for Khedira as back up for Matic. I think it will turn out to be quite a Mourihno-y window: We'll see the squad players and youth in action pre-season, say things like well, we need not buy anybody and then the club will bid £60m for Pogba and send everybody on loan.

I

would love to be a fly on the wall at the meeting between Milner and Rodgers. I don't know if flies can count, but if they can then I would be counting the number of times Rodgers used the word outstanding in his attempts to get Milner to sign.

Reds and Arsenal chase Milner

W

ell, it wouldn't be a summer without Arsenal fans fretting over losing a key player, and United throwing their weight around and muscling in on transfer deals which are (apparently) near to completion. If we can't be entertained by the football on the pitch, let's enjoy the silly off-pitch soap opera of the transfer season. Hurrah!
