Pardew's Beard: 'My God! Is It Serious?'

What's the reason for Newcastle's recent return to form? Is it the influx of players from Ligue Un? Or how about Steven Taylor's banter? No. It has to be Pardew's beard...

When Xabi Alonso joined Liverpool, he was fairly mediocre for a long spell - to be fair, he was a bit of a soft touch (fans nowadays only have a 2-week memory, so they think he was just great). Then he grew his beard - and he became a warrior as well as a smooth ball-playing maestro. I also believe in the psychology of the beard. Pardew's beard is cool too. Rock N' Roll. Is this 'Andi' a dour conformist? Reminds me of Monty Burns and his 'get rid of those sideburns'. Real men have long hair and/or beards - not like those prissy types who constantly get their hair cut and styled and spend their time posing in front of mirrors (products of Beckham marketing strategies no doubt). Think Fidel Castro, Che Guevara and Andy Carroll.... real men.

I've always thought that Pardew was a decent manager, there're still plenty of games to go, and the obvious drop in league form from the run in europe, but Newcastle should be reasonably satisfied with themselves at the end of the season. The only tarnish really is the manner he came into control of Newcastle, not his fault but this should be Chris Hughton's success being talked about

One of the most obnoxious men in football. Oh btw Newcastle are only 2 points better off than "doom and gloom" Sunderland.
