Redknapp cools links with duo

Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has played down talk linking him with Joe Cole and Darren Bent.

Last Updated: 30/11/12 at 20:52 Post Comment

Redknapp has been linked with both players when the transfer window reopens in January as he looks to bolster his squad at Loftus Road.

Cole and Bent have both previously played under Redknapp and their futures at Liverpool and Aston Villa have been the subject of conjecture.

Redknapp is an admirer of the duo, but he has hinted QPR will not spend big in the transfer window if they do not appear to have a realistic chance of staying in the Premier League come January.

"Darren Bent's a good player. They paid 20-odd million for him but I'm not even looking at January," said Redknapp.

"I've always liked Joe. I signed him for West Ham at 11 years old so no-one knows more about him than me.

"I still think he's got talent and there's a top player there, but I've made no enquiry about Joe. I've had no contact with his agent or anyone."

Redknapp added: "What happens between now and January will decide where we go.

"If we don't get points in that period then why put the club in danger by signing five players and having a big wage bill next season?

"I haven't discussed players with anyone - not the chairman or chief executive Philip Beard. We just need to win football matches."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
