Redknapp hails super Taarabt

Harry Redknapp lavished praise on Adel Taarabt as the Morocco international bagged two second-half goals to sink London neighbours Fulham and record the club's first league win of the season.

Taarabt was inspirational for most of the game and he helped Rangers to a 2-1 success at Loftus Road to move off the foot of the table.

And Redknapp enthused about his star player's match-winning contribution, which gave Rangers a huge lift at the final whistle.

He told Sky Sports: "He was amazing. I changed it today. I just felt we might be a little short and a little open, but I really wanted to get him in that position where he played today - off the front - where he can play and cause damage inbetween the lines and he did that today.

"Everytime he picked the ball up he did the most amazing things. It was one of the all-time great performances I felt. Everything he did today was top class and the goals were the icing on the cake.

"Adel has got the talent and the ability to be as good as he wants to be."

It was the first win under Redknapp and the club's first league victory since they beat Stoke on May 6 and he felt it was a necessity to end the winless run before they were cut adrift.

"Yeah it did (mean so much) and it was a fantastic performance today," he said. "We've played well in all our games. We had three draws and now we got our first win, but it was well deserved.

"We were the better team, I thought we dominated although the last four minutes were a bit hectic, which they were bound to be.

"It would have been a gross injustice had we hadn't won the game today."

Victory moved Rangers onto 10 points from 17 games, which keeps Redknapp's team in touch with the teams above them.

"It's going to be hard, we all know that," he added.

"No one is kidding ourselves, it's going to be tough, but if we work as hard as we did today and play with the same ability and enthusiasm then we can pick up points for sure."
