Allardyce v Redknapp: Finished 1-1

Saturday's result at Upton Park left the Hoops four points adrift at the foot of the Premier League.

The Hammers dominated but could not breach Julio Cesar's defences until Joe Cole scored in the 68th minute to cancel out Loic Remy's 14th-minute opener on his QPR debut.

Redknapp conceded his side were second best and called for an improvement. The QPR boss said: "That's five games unbeaten. At least we're in there, having a go.

"We're trying, working hard, (but) you've got to play, haven't you? You've got to be bold enough to try to keep the ball.

"You can't keep kicking the ball back to them and inviting another attack.

"That's what we tended to do second half. We just sat in there, got deeper and deeper and couldn't get out, really.

"I like teams that can play. We need to be bolder and play and try to pass and keep hold of the ball better."

Redknapp's demands could prompt him to delve into the transfer market once more following the capture of Remy and the continued pursuit of Rennes' Yann M'Vila.

He added: "You need a bit of quality. You need people to be able to play and pass the ball under pressure. Spirit and effort will only take you so far."

The former Hammers boss still believes QPR have a good chance of survival.

He said: "We're picking up points at the moment. We're averaging more than a point a game.

"There's still enough games. You win back-to-back games, the whole picture will change, whether it's now, whether it's in eight games' time. There's a long way to go."
