Many pundits queried how Rangers would cope in the second tier after such a disappointing season in the top flight last time around but Harry Redknapp's men have now collected 10 points from the first 12 available.

Andrew Johnson scored the game's only goal at the Reebok Stadium nine minutes into the second half, sweeping home after a brilliant move which involved Charlie Austin and Clint Hill.

"I'm pleased with the result and the performance as well. It's not an easy place to come to, Bolton," said Jordan.

"It's important to try and measure yourself against a team that's not been long in the Championship. You've got to get a barometer of how you're doing and I thought today was a tester in that respect.

"As history has shown, you've got a lot of teams that have come out of the Premier League and they've not quite grasped how difficult the Championship can be. I think we've started in a way that we've shown the correct application and got on with it.

"We've got some results and I think we'll improve, we showed some quality today but I think we can get better."

Skipper Hill, playing at full-back, was the architect of the goal as he maintained his run via a one-two with Austin before putting the ball on a plate for Johnson to rifle home.

"It was terrific football," added Jordan.

"All credit to Clint Hill who has been asked to play in that position. Not only did he defend strongly but to get forward and to be part of an exquisite goal...that just showed you the quality of the move."

It was also a twist of irony that Dougie Freedman's former strike partner at Crystal Palace snatched the goal which left his Wanderers side still searching for their first league win after four games.

Freedman was not too downcast after the defeat, though, arguing the hosts were good value for at least a point.

He said: "I felt our performance, especially the first half, merited at least a goal.

We showed great approach play; we're playing against a really top team in QPR and we did very well.

"Their one and only opportunity they've cut us open and they've scored the goal. From then on they've showed a ruthlessness in their defending.

"They're a very experienced outfit, know when to give away 'professional' fouls at the right time and break the game up. I'm very proud of my lads' effort, I'm very proud of what they showed."

still can't see the Phil Jones thing that some people go on about. Whenever I watch him play it's a repeat of headless chicken meets a gurning Bambi on ice for 90 minutes.

P

robably the first list I've come across in a long time where I agree with a large majority of what was written. Can't agree with everything though, Zaba has had an awful season by his standards, I'd put Monreal (a player who I've never rated) up there, gotta give credit where it's due, he's really stepped up his game.
