I wanted Giggs to come to Chelsea but it looks like we couldn't get a deal done for him,

No, Harry, while watching the World Cup, we would not "see what a world-class act he is, on and off the field." He never stepped foot *on* it.

Even Vidic was a spent force. What pace he had was gone and he's a shadow of his former self. No doubt he'll go on to have a few good years in Italy and everyone will say how we should have kept hold of him, but its a different paced game over there. Both Rio and Vidic had moments last season when they were just embarrassed. Great servants both, but time to move on. As for Giggs, what's he likely to say " Arry, his legs are gone, he can't train and the day after a game he can't stand up straight because of his back! Get him signed!"

I can't be the only one confused as to how the World Cup showed rio's ability on the field can I? Am I missing something?

Well, its not like he was ever gonna get anything other than a glowing recommendation from the man who's been his teammate for 12 odd years. I love Rio and even at his age he still has many of the attributes that made him a world class defender, but his injury record and waning powers meant it was necessary to let go seeing as we have other defenders to do the backup defender role (Smalling, Evans). If there was one man we should have kept, it was Vidic.
