Andy Little: Hat-trick at Ibrox on Saturday

The Irn-Bru Third Division clash appeared to be over as a contest when two goals from the Northern Irishman and a David Templeton strike earned the home side a comfortable lead at Ibrox.

But Berwick hit back with two goals from Ross Gray and Fraser McLaren to throw themselves a lifeline - with Little at fault for the second.

However, he ensured there would be no tense climax to the match for Gers - who conceded a late leveller against Elgin City last week - when he completed his hat-trick to put the match beyond Berwick.

He said: "I was really keen to get back among the goals. I'd gone off the trail a little bit so I was delighted to get a few goals. Just to keep playing is great for me.

"I was probably the most happy with the third, just to get the hat-trick. I absolutely love it when I get on the scoresheet and to score in front of all those fans is incredible.

"To get three goals was extra special, especially after it went to 3-2, it was important that we got that goal.

"I felt I was at fault myself for their second goal so I felt it was up to me to try to get us out of it."

The win allowed Rangers to stretch their lead at the summit to 19 points but Little believes the Light Blues must be more ruthless.

He said: "We played well in parts but, again, we were sloppy conceding a couple of goals. It's disappointing and it's something we need to work on.

"Something we haven't been great at is finishing off teams. The longer it goes on at 1-0 or 2-0, you give them a chance.

"I thought when we got to 3-0, that would it and we would go on and win comfortably. We were as surprised as anyone to concede a couple and that's not good enough.

"We've got to try to kill teams off earlier."

Little was sympathetic to the plight of Francisco Sandaza, who worked hard but could not find the back of the net.

The Spanish striker recently returned to action following a fractured cheekbone and looked desperate to add to his one Rangers goal this season.

Little said: "It was great that the fans really seemed to get behind him, I think they appreciate that he's working really, really hard.

"He's just been so unfortunate not to get a goal.

"You could say he maybe played better than me and didn't get the goals and that's just unlucky.

"But he understands that it's a team game and he's happy to do that shift so that's great."
