Mather insists McCoist remains the right man to take Rangers forward after guiding the club to the Division Three title this season as they took their first step on returning to the top flight.

Mather has promised McCoist he will be given backing in the transfer market to bolster the squad in the summer and that the manager has his full support.

"Ally will 100 per cent be leading the team in the new season, there's not even a grey area about that," Mather told the Daily Record.

"He has my total commitment and support and we're working together as a team.

"After the lads picked up the Third Division trophy I had a chat with Ally and said, 'Bring on next season, let's start working towards it now'.

"We don't want to go through another pre-season like we did last summer and we're working now to put the right squad in place.

"This is all part of the building blocks we must establish to return to the top of Scottish football - and to compete when we get there.

"We are as committed to the fans as they are to us and their season-ticket money will be used to strengthen the squad."

still can't see the Phil Jones thing that some people go on about. Whenever I watch him play it's a repeat of headless chicken meets a gurning Bambi on ice for 90 minutes.

P

robably the first list I've come across in a long time where I agree with a large majority of what was written. Can't agree with everything though, Zaba has had an awful season by his standards, I'd put Monreal (a player who I've never rated) up there, gotta give credit where it's due, he's really stepped up his game.
