The win maintained their 100 per cent record in League One and puts Rangers 14 points clear of their third-tier rivals.

McCoist's only complaint is that his charges appear to be profligate in the early stages of their matches.

"I thought we thoroughly deserved the win and on the day we should have scored a lot more goals," McCoist said.

"If I was going to be a little disappointed at anything, it would be to score more goals. But when you take a step back, it's not a bad thing to moan about.

"The game lasts 90 minutes - that's stating the obvious. It doesn't really pose a big problem to me as long as we're winning games and keeping clean sheets.

"But I suppose, in an ideal world, a little less stressful for fans and management - but that's not going to be the case.

"A bit of the credit needs to go to the opposition who are setting up differently than at the start of the season."
