The current board is seeking re-election but former director Paul Murray is trying to join the board along with three other men.

Both sides hope the Rangers fans get the outcome they want.

Graham Wallace, the current chief executive, told Sky Sports News: "They (the fans) want to know that their club is in good hands. They want to know that they have got people in the boardroom who genuinely have got the interests of Rangers at heart and I can categorically give them that assurance, sitting from the CEO's chair.

"My focus 100 per cent is to drive this business forward and I really seek the mandate, I seek the support of the wider shareholder community, to give us the platform to do that because it is absolutely fundamental to the future of the club."

Murray told Sky Sports News: "There are nine candidates who are up for either re-election or election and I think what the shareholders should do is try and choose the best board to take Rangers forward.

"We have said that some of the appointments that the board have made are credible and I think can help the club move forward. We think our nominations are also credible so we have to see what the shareholders think.

"But I think the most important constituency are the fans. It's the fans who have kept the club going for the last couple of years. They are the ones who buy the season tickets, they are the ones who buy the merchandise and pay for the hospitality.

"At the end of the day it's really the fans who I think are the most important factor here."

The Ibrox club's five current PLC directors are Wallace, chairman David Somers, James Easdale, Norman Crighton and finance director

Brian Stockbridge and reports on Tuesday night claimed that they have won the backing of a majority of shareholders which would keep them in situ.

Murray, former chairman Malcolm Murray, Scott Murdoch and Alex Wilson are known as the requisitioners.

xcellent! Not sure if he is any good as a manager (never thought about it) but the 'headbutt in the technical area' and what he said to Pelligrini were just brilliant, it was as if he was trying to recreate the end of the Alan Partridge Xmas special when Alan punched a man in a wheelchair and verbally abused Tony Heirs.
