Reading currently sit second bottom in the Premier League, still without a win. Most concerning has been the club's tendency to drop points from winning positions, drawing against Swansea and Newcastle and losing to Chelsea despite being ahead.

Although there has been no official vote of confidence, McDermott is aware that his side need a win sooner rather than later if they are to avoid a relegation battle, as rumours suggest he is under pressure.

"I cannot affect speculation and who says what.

"All I know is I've got great staff, my director of football is fantastic and I've got a great bunch of players who do the best they can on a Saturday afternoon.

"What more can we do? That's it as far as I'm concerned."

McDermott also dealt with speculation that new owner Anton Zingarevich has been too heavily involved in the affairs of the team, confirming that the Russian had never forced him to explain the team's results or performances.

"I've had no reason to make a case like that, I speak to him regularly.

He added: "I don't need to speak to him about that, he can see for himself."

nd we always will love Ozil. I don't really mind if no other team can see just how brilliant he is, or if people think he is rubbish, because we know he is far from it. He is a fantastic player, and if people cannot see that it can only be a good thing, in that he will be at Arsenal for years to come, pulling the strings from behind a glass veil.

like the list and Ozil in particular does seem under appreciated when you look at his stats (an odd thing considering his fee or maybe because of it). Palace have a few and I've always thought Dwight Gayle at Palace was under rated, certainly when you look at his goals per game ratio. You can probably also add Ryan Bertrand at Saints who should be in the England team in my view.

ew Shaun Wright Phillips, there I've said it. If any club offers stupid money we'd be stupid to say no, he's not a potential worldie by any stretch and I feel that after a few years warming the bench at city or Chelsea he'll be back at QPR smoking sheesha pipes under Harry Redknapp.
