Jay Tabb: Planning on enjoying the festive period

A busy December will see the Royals play seven games, with their Christmas schedule due to take in trips to Manchester City and Sunderland and home dates with Manchester United and Arsenal.

With points having been hard to come by so far this season, Brian McDermott's side could be forgiven for fearing the worst.

Tabb, though, claims Reading are relishing the challenges which lie ahead and are confident that they can end the calendar year on a high.

"Christmas is always a busy time for footballers and for us we've got the rearranged Sunderland fixture in the middle of it, so I'm sure the whole squad is going to be needed," he told the Reading Post.

"It'll be a tough period and the pitches get heavier as well.

"It takes its toll on the legs sometimes so it's a time when the manager will need to rotate his squad. But I'm looking forward to it and hopefully staying in the team.

"You can enjoy Christmas if you're not in the squad but if you are playing you can still enjoy it.

"But it's a results game and it's our job to be in good condition and get results."
