Precious point for McDermott

Reading manager Brian McDermott was in buoyant mood after his side's 0-0 draw with Swansea at the Madejski Stadium.

The Royals clawed their way off the bottom of the Premier League table by holding Michael Laudrup's visitors, who kicked off the game a full 15 points ahead of their hosts.

It could have been even better for McDermott's men - but Adam Le Fondre's celebrations at what he thought was a late winner were cut short by referee Mike Jones correctly disallowing the goal for handball.

"We need to find a way to get results and today we got a result," McDermott said in the wake of the game.

"We are disappointed they didn't give us the handball goal because they normally give them here. Adam would have headed it but he said he got pulled back.

"We were much more resilient, it is important to move on with a point and we can look forward with confidence to West Ham.

"We have got a point and a clean sheet and we are off the bottom of the table."

QPR replaced Reading at the foot of the league - albeit on goal difference - after they slumped to a controversial 2-1 home defeat at the hands of West Brom.
