Adam Le Fondre: Has scored 12 goals for Reading this season

Le Fondre took his season's tally to 12 goals with a double after coming off the bench against Chelsea this week, but he has only started eight league games so far this season.

The striker has been linked with an England call-up, but believes he needs to start regularly for Reading if that dream is to be realised.

"It's surreal for me," Le Fondre told the Daily Telegraph. "If you look at where I've come from to be one of the leading goalscorers in the Premier League, and the second English scorer after Theo Walcott, it's brilliant. I'm buzzing.

"The last thing I want is to be known as a super-sub. I want to be a starter. Before this batch of five, I had only got one from the bench and six from starting. It's less physical in the Premier League. It suits me it's not 100mph. It is frustrating. I want to start.

"I've spoken to the gaffer enough times. We spoke this morning about it. I said: 'I know why we are playing 4-5-1. It makes us miles more solid. It's tough for me to take because I'm scoring.' He said: 'I want to start you but we are doing something that's working.

"I totally agreed. I want to play but the main objective is to stay up."
