The Russian international was shown a second yellow card, for simulation, by Scott in the 31st minute of the Sky Bet Championship clash.

Pogrebnyak picked up his first yellow for a mistimed challenge on Kazenga Lua Lua before referee Scott adjudged the striker to be guilty of diving.

Brighton's Leonardo Ulloa was shown a straight red card minutes later for a high boot and Pogrebnyak believes the official was too keen to reach to his pocket.

In comments reported by Itar-Tass, Pogrebnyak is quoted as saying: "It was unfair that I was sent off. This is the first time I met such a disgusting referee in England.

"At my first yellow it should have been a verbal warning.

"And then the referee saw in my action simulation and that I was inside the penalty area. Actually the opponent grabbed my hands and it was out of the box. Generally, the referee showed too many yellow cards."

The dismissal meant Pogrebnyak missed the clash with Leeds United at the Madejski Stadium as former Royals boss Brian McDermott returned to his old stomping ground.

"It is a pity I can't play against Leeds because my former coach Brian McDermott works there," he added. "I would like to meet him to talk."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
