Rangers head to the Madejski Stadium in the weekend's early kick-off just outside of the automatic promotion places but eight points clear of Nigel Adkins' side.

A win for Redknapp would see his team overtake Leicester City and Burnley - who play later in the day - at the top of the table.

But he is aware of the quality of his opponents, who were relegated from the Premier League alongside QPR last season and who are seeking an immediate return to the top flight.

"They will be bang there," said Redknapp. "Nigel has done a good job. Reading is a real good football club and they will be in the promotion race.

"We want to go up automatically. It won't be easy as there are a lot of good teams but I'm pleased with the start we have made.

"We scored two at home last weekend against Derby and we are keeping control of matches. If we can continue that I will be delighted."

Rangers will be without Argentine midfielder Ale Faurlin, who is set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee in the Derby game.

Nedum Onouha is available again following a hamstring injury whilst Gary O'Neil is also back in contention. Niko Kranjcar will be assessed ahead of the trip to Berkshire to determine if he has fully recovered from a hamstring problem.

"Losing Alejandro Faurlin is a big blow for us," said Redknapp. "Nedum is back training and available. We are waiting on Niko still.

"We are managing Richard Dunne after last season. He feels okay and always wants to play for Ireland but he felt he needed a rest

"When we took Richard he was very fair. I had no doubt I wanted to sign him. I felt he could make a massive difference.

"Playing three games was a big ask for him without Nedum. He needs a rest now and after tomorrow he has a fortnight to do so now."

ow is the time for Allardyce to finally get a chance at a big club please. He is likely to have a number of great offers for his services this summer, but who will he choose? Will it be Liverpool, Real Madrid, Dortmund or Man City?
