Sharp is just finding his feet with the club after an injury early on into his loan spell kept him sidelined for a month.

Two goals in three games from the former Scunthorpe striker has given Nigel Adkins something to think about when it comes to Sharp's long-term future.

He believes he is now back to full fitness and is ready to impress before his loan deal runs out on January 2.

Sharp told Get Reading: "I want to get settled. I want to be loyal to a football club, I don't want to keep moving around anymore.

"I want to play, help the team and score goals.

"I know I haven't got a future at Southampton so I just want to perform to the best of my abilities for the next few weeks and then I will speak to the gaffer and we will see what we can do for the long term."

Sharp's 32nd-minute winner at Huddersfield on Saturday moved them up to fifth in the table, just six points off the automatic promotion spots.

He was taken off with 20 minutes to play but is confident he can play the full 90 minutes from now on.

He said: "I have managed to get over the injury now.

"I felt good on Saturday, I felt I could have gone on even longer.

"I have managed to play the last three games and I have really enjoyed it.

"I have got two goals which is a bonus and I just want to be part of this squad and help us be successful."

Royals boss Adkins has worked with Sharp at Scunthorpe, Southampton and now Reading, but remained quiet over what his next move would be regarding the striker.

He said: "That will take care of itself in due course.

"All we can do is concentrate on what we can control.

"I've had Billy at three football clubs now - he's top drawer.

"So I think everyone is aware of the belief I have in him."
