Captain Richard Brittain clinched the win with a 57th-minute header, and Adams, who had a short spell as assistant boss at Hibs, was thrilled with the result.

He said: "We've done well against Hibernian. Taking six points off Hibs this season is unbelievable for a club like Ross County."

Ending their string of defeats, County now have 21 points, making them level with 10th-placed St Mirren.

Adams added: "It's a big three points in a tight division. We know how many wins and how many draws we need to pick up to stay in the division. We've started well.

"We need to do similar to what we did in the first half of the season but a wee bit better.

"We've got a different outlook to Hibernian. They're trying to push higher up the table than we are.

"From my point of view we've got to stay in the game and take an opportunity when it comes along. We had to stop them creating chances."
