Ivan Sproule: Is determined to help Ross County keep their SPL status

The former Hibernian winger joined the Highlanders on an 18-month deal earlier this month and could make his debut against St Mirren tomorrow.

Sproule has been impressed by his new club's efforts so far in their first ever campaign in the top-flight, after an incredible unbeaten run saw them win promotion from the Irn-Bru First Division.

Country sit second bottom of the table but have a nine-point advantage, and a game in hand, over Dundee and Sproule hopes he can provide a further boost to their survival hopes.

The Northern Ireland international said: "I'm here to do a job."

"I've signed for 18 months and it's a big challenge for myself and my family but it's one that I relish and look forward to."

"Ross County have had a meteoric rise. The footballers here, and the club as a whole, deserve great credit."

"I've come here to be part of that progression and help move Ross County up the league."

"I've come here to try to push the team on, along with all the other boys."

"The lads have given a great account of themselves in this SPL campaign. I'm just keen to get started."

The 31-year-old says the opportunity to join up with his new team-mates at their winter training camp in Spain has helped him settle at the club.

He added: "It's been a bit hectic. My first destination with the club was Marbella, so that wasn't a bad way to start."

"We've trained really hard since I've come here and it was probably good for me to get that trip away with the lads."

"I got to speak to them a lot more and bond with the team, which was good for me. They've made me feel very welcome throughout the club."

Ross County travel to Paisley tomorrow for the Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Saints in what will be their first match since the Boxing Day win over Hibernian.

Sproule said: "If the first half of the season was important, the second half of the season is even more important - everybody knows that."

"If we can have a strong January now and pick up a few points, it will really help us."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
