A comfortable 3-0 success left the Highlanders just two points behind their visitors and three behind second-placed Motherwell.

Adams said: "After the first goal it was probably never in doubt. We should have probably scored a few more but I'm happy with another clean sheet.

"It was a terrific performance today against a side who are trying to get into second position after finishing third last year.

"I thought Motherwell didn't really trouble us to any respect throughout the 90 minutes. We coped well with Michael Higdon, who has been a good signing for them.

"When we keep him quiet and Henrik Ojamaa quiet we're doing all right.

"The reality is we want to stay in the Premier League, we're just happy with the progress we're making. That's our 11th clean sheet, which is second only to Celtic. It's a fairytale."
