Goals from David Raven, Billy McKay and Marley Watkins sealed a convincing Highland derby win for Caley, and Hughes felt the damp, slick playing surface was perfectly suited to his side's passing game.

He said: "Sometimes it's easier playing away from home - when we arrived and walked onto the pitch and there was a drizzle on the surface I could see the boys rubbing their hands.

"To score three goals away from home was different class.

"If we were a bit more ruthless and a little bit more slick with the final pass we could have got another one or two goals.

"But it was a good team performance. I'm delighted for the boys "

Next up for Inverness is Celtic, who suffered their first league defeat of the season at Aberdeen, and Hughes is wary of a backlash from the leaders at the weekend.

"You don't want to get Celtic when they are coming off a defeat, very rarely do they go back-to-back defeats," he added.

"It's going to be a real tough match but we don't get carried away we'll just get back to work and get on with it."

County boss Derek Adams admitted his side were distinctly second best on the night.

He said: "Take nothing away from Inverness I thought they were excellent tonight.

"We've lost three bad goals, we haven't really been able to get ourselves back in the game after losing that early goal.

"Inverness were stronger and capitalised on our mistakes. Offensively we didn't do enough following on from Saturday.

"We didn't do enough in the game to win the game, Inverness were strong and powerful. We've probably got a younger side than they have, we've got less experience in derby matches and that showed tonight.

"But take nothing away from Inverness, they deserved to win the match - they won it convincingly in the end."

m only commenting on this (I don't care about Liverpool) because F365's twitter said I had call Matt Stanger a tw*t (which I don't agree with anyway) but I just wanted to be the first. Am I the first?

Trial And Error Rather Than Transition

S

unday, Sunday. Will there be a fan of either team, who if they are winning after 80 mins, won't still be nervous? This could be anything from 0-0 to 5-5, and no one would bat an eye.
