Goals from James McFadden and John Sutton early in the second half should then have seen the Fir Park side on their way to a comfortable win but a Yann Songo'o strike eight minutes from time had the home side hanging on.

"It was a more nervous finish than it should have been," McCall said.

"We have been clinical in front of goal this season and if we had been in the first half the game would have been over sooner.

"To be fair James McFadden has come in at half-time and admitted he should have been more clinical with his chances but he has grabbed the opener.

"You always think it could come back and bite you when you don't take your chances and it would have been a travesty if we hadn't taken all three so we are delighted with the win."

Ross County boss Derek Adams was disappointed that his team's efforts did not yield reward he felt would have justified.

"I thought we played well in the first half, had the best chance of the half and probably just shaded it," Adams said.

"Motherwell are a good side and flying high but it was two errors by our keeper that has given them their two goals. Mark Brown has taken responsibility and when your keeper plays the ball back straight to the opposition there is not much the other defenders can do.

"Our goal came a little bit late for us although we had a couple of good chances after that from Jordan Slew and Yoann Arquin to grab an equaliser and give us a point we probably deserved over the 90 minutes.

"Although it didn't cost us with all the terms around us also losing, we are only interested in looking after ourselves to get out of the relegation play-off position."

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
