Assistant manager Callum Davidson has taken the Saints first team, along with coach Alex Cleland, during victories over Hibernian and St Mirren as Northern Irishman Wright has been recovering from gall bladder surgery in hospital.

However, Wright plans to be back on the bench, taking full control, for Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash with Partick Thistle at McDiarmid Park.

Davidson said: "It's been good. I just stood on the sidelines talking rubbish.

"But I have enjoyed it, it's great experience and I have learned a lot from my little stint. But it was all Tommy's work.

"Tommy's out of hospital and is getting wound up about things again, so he's back to normal.

"He will be back in training on Friday and I imagine he will probably be back at the game on Saturday. Whether it's in the dugout or the stand, he will be doing the team selection and the talk."

Thistle lost 5-1 against Celtic on Wednesday as the visitors retained the title but Davidson knows they will be desperate to atone and stay away from the relegation play-off spot.

"I was at Firhill on Wednesday night and the scoreline flattered Celtic a wee bit," he said. "They are a good team and we have to find out where we can expose them."

think Liverpool should start trying alternative therapy now, given that Sturridge's hips and knees are apparently unfathomable to modern medicine. Voodoo, acupuncture, healing oils, rolling in the snow after a hot bath, its all got to be worth a go now.
