Joe Jordan: In the frame to replace Craig Levein

Joe Jordan: In the frame to replace Craig Levein

Jordan is one of a number of names in the frame to replace Craig Levein, whose reign came to an end on Monday after a series of poor results in the qualifying campaign for the 2014 World Cup.

The former Spurs coach has been out of work since leaving White Hart Lane in the wake of Harry Redknapp's departure - he is a 20/1 shot to take the role behind clear SkyBet favourite Gordon Strachan, the 4/11 favourite on Tuesday morning.

"I know there will be a lot of names, a lot of speculation," said Jordan, who has managed Hearts, Stoke and Bristol City.

"I am Scottish, I'm a proud Scotsman and a person that wants to work - for my name to be mentioned, yes, it's nice to be linked with the national job."

Former Scotland international John Robertson feels whoever takes on the role is going to have to be given time to turn things around.

He said: "It's a hard job. The Tartan Army demand a lot, the press demand a lot. The players are certainly talented but it's getting the results, you have to get results as a manager.

"I don't see the benefit of changing mid-campaign because if one of the big guns that they're talking about - Strachan, Dalglish, Joe Jordan - come in and don't do well for the rest of the campaign they could be under pressure before the end of this campaign finishes."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
